Forensic technology

A vital mix of skillsets that include software development, IT support, eDiscovery, database engineering, digital forensics and cybersecurity/information assurance

Baker Tilly’s global forensic technology team supports our clients in complex situations involving cyber and fraud investigations, litigation, claims and document management and damage analysis. Coupled with a solid risk management strategy, we help prepare to deal with all types of business risk events.

    What we offer

The processes and technologies around forensic investigations and eDiscovery are often complex due to the sheer volume of electronic data produced and stored. As different organizations have disparate systems, data volumes and infrastructure, there is no "one size fits all" approach. Our forensic technology consultants are experienced in guiding clients through every stage of the engagement, and this enables us to create models of custom scenarios highlighting the potential financial impact to revenue generation. We can analyze and automate these processes to expedite the time needed to process data from various sources.

Forensic technologists analyze increasingly large datasets, requiring extensive knowledge and use of powerful data analytics tools, artificial intelligence and robotic process automation (RPA). Baker Tilly utilizes a variety of data analytics tools that are most appropriate to the specific analysis of each engagement. Optical character recognition (OCR) technology empowers us to process data from multiple unsearchable formats in a matter of hours.

    How we work

Baker Tilly works with OCR industry leaders to utilize technology to efficiently process millions of transactions from various formats, reconcile data, identify missing statements and missing data, run trends analysis and determine connections between entities and individuals.

Baker Tilly’s global forensic technology team operates under the guidelines set out in the ACPO Good Practice Guide for Computer-Based Electronic Evidence. We can assist with remote data collection and ensure that all acquired data is backed up and kept in our secure laboratories in New York and London.

The maintenance of evidential integrity is paramount and all movement or handling of evidence is recorded in contemporaneous notes and logs. Our reports can be supported by an expert witness report or statement of fact.
