For more than 20 years as a forensic accountant, Simon Oddy has honed his skills on quantifying large, complex losses in insurance, fraud, liability and cyber claims cases.
Working with insurers and lawyers, he has handled engagements in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.
Simon’s insurance related cases focus on property and casualty losses. He is actively involved in the area of product recall damages analysis and has been involved in a number of high profile food contamination losses affecting the U.S. He has worked with clients and insurers to assist in the development of updated insurance products responding to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA's) Food Safety Modernization Act.
In the field of liability claims cases, Simon has worked on food manufacturing and distribution claims, automobile products manufacturing, breach of contract, medical products liability and construction defect liability cases. He has also handled claims for the Pre Launch Satellite Business, marine losses and the jewelry and precious stones industries. As well as working within the insurance industry, Simon has handled government work on behalf of the United States Department of Justice, performing transaction analysis in cases of fraud.
Simon joined the firm in 1998. He spent the first six years of his career in the firm's London office, and transferred to New York in early 2004 where he is now a partner. Simon's recent fraud-related experience has seen him involved in mortgage fraud cases, vendor fraud schemes and fraud kickback schemes.
In addition to clients in the United States, Simon works with clients in the London Insurance Market, Syndicates in Lloyds and handles cases globally. He has handled matters for both claimants and defendants.
