Corey is a director in the firm’s risk advisory practice. Corey has been with the firm since 2011 and has more than 13 years of experience in the areas of internal audit, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance, fraud investigation and grants and contracts consulting.

Prior to joining the firm, Corey had more than two years of internal audit experience at an international organization where he assisted in the development and execution of audit procedures for several large, national mortgage servicers. He also developed test plans, led process walkthroughs and tested key controls as part of the organization’s first evaluation of internal controls over financial reporting under SOX.

  • Conducts enterprise-wide risk assessments to assist organizations in the development and alignment of risk-based internal audit plans
  • Provided interim leadership support for clients, acting as an organization’s director of internal audit and director of compliance
  • Collaborates seamlessly with senior management and the organization’s internal audit function to provide co-sourced and outsourced internal audit services to government contracting organizations
  • Led teams in assessing cost allowability and compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Department of Defense FAR Supplement (DFARS), OMB Circulars and Department of Energy Acquisition Regulation (DEAR)
  • Performed cost allowability audits of organizations, including a procurement card audit, purchase orders and subcontracts review and a miscellaneous expenditures audit
  • Assisted with a conflicts of interest audit and helped to align clients’ policy and practices with those of organizations of similar quality and reputation
  • Performed detailed reviews of government contractor’s policies and procedures to determine compliance with the DCAA business systems requirements
  • Assisted a client with the transition to a new chart of accounts structure and performed reconciliation between the old and new account structure
  • Conducted organization-wide internal control assessments, operational reviews and compliance audits for government contractor clients, including identifying weaknesses in an organization’s internal controls and recommending methods to mitigate risks and enhance organizational controls
  • Assisted in the development and leadership of teams focused on testing the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls
  • Developed process documentation, including flow charts, narratives and risk and control matrices to help identify process improvement opportunities
  • Clients include Princeton University, Columbia University, Georgetown University, The George Washington University, The Catholic University of America and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
