Mike Kwiatkowski is a managing director with Baker Tilly Capital — the wholly owned private investment banking subsidiary of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP.

Mike has worked in the financial services industry for 35 years as a relationship manager and consultant for market leading firms and financial institutions. Mike’s experience includes debt and equity placements to a wide range of clients and industries. For the last 14 years, Mike has specialized in providing New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) financing to more than 100 project sponsors. During this time, Mike has served as investor, community development entity (CDE), lender and consultant, effectively bringing perspective to all aspects of a transaction.

Mike first joined Baker Tilly in 2005 and spent nearly five years consulting clients on senior debt financing, capital structure, financial derivatives and banking services. He rejoined the firm in 2019.

  • More than eight years of experience as a NMTC originator for the tax credit solutions group of a large bank holding company and financial services corporation, where he structured and closed on more than 100 NMTC transactions, with more than $1 billion of NMTC allocations
  • Experience sourcing a variety of supplemental capital utilized in NMTC and other traditionally financed transactions
  • Served as the vice president and senior loan officer for a CDE, assisting in the deployment of NMTC allocations totaling $65 million
  • Prior to joining Baker Tilly in 2005, Mike acquired 16 years of commercial banking experience as the senior lender for an early stage, niche business bank and as a relationship manager for the financial institutions group of a large, bank holding company
