Brendan Gray is a director with Baker Tilly’s forensic, litigation and valuation services practice. He appreciates the complex analysis and problem solving needed to resolve intricate issues. As a forensic accountant, Brendan focuses on the quantification of insurance claims related to product recall, general liability and complex claims and fraud and fidelity.

He is also experienced in investigating misappropriation schemes and tracing assets due to employee theft or dishonesty and often assists in the preparation of expert reports and analyses for trial use.

  • Analysis of a bank fraud scheme where the employees were issuing fraudulent loans used to mask true financial conditions of the bank. Valued the loss the bank suffered from the fraudulent loans and identified and separated the instances of employee dishonesty from bank fraud. Assisted client and counsel through the claims process and into mediation until settlement
  • Analysis of large complex losses, including property damage or other general liability losses, and analyzing the potential policy exposure over the various years impacted. Development of complex scenario driven model to assist clients and counsel as they prepare for litigation
  • Analysis of an asset misappropriation case, first as an advisor to the insurer. This included tracing and valuing the assets, which were valued in Chinese Yen and were being traded overseas under Chinese trading regulations and law. The analysis resulted in our serving as an expert witness to the attorney as the case went into litigation. This work included presenting expert reports, exhibits, and rebuttal reports against the insured’s own accounting experts
  • Product recall analysis for a large, complex sugar recall that included the direct loss suffered by the insured, as well as numerous third party claims that were submitted by the insured’s customers and required their own individual analysis
