Extension of CARES Act deadline for defined benefit contributions (2020-82)

On Nov. 16, 2020, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) issued Notice 2020-82, which extended the deadline for contributions to a single employer pension plan from the original due date of Jan. 1, 2021 to Jan. 4, 2021, for contributions deferred under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).
