Cybersecurity and other topics discussed at PCI event

This year’s Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) Annual Meeting brought together more than 1,200 property casualty insurer industry executives to network, learn and take a proactive approach to the trends affecting the industry.

Of the many topics presented, one of the marquee sessions was a panel of media experts that discussed cyber data breaches. In today’s modern world, cybersecurity experts agree that it’s not a matter of if a data breach will occur, but a matter of when. Because of this, the journalists talked about how insurers can manage the media and generate positive press when a data breach occurs. The key is having an effective cybersecurity incident response plan that is tested often to ensure the plan can be executed when it is needed.

The 2017 PCI Annual Meeting included other highly engaging and insightful discussions on important topics to property and casualty insurers, including:

  • The media and current public affairs
  • Innovation in risk management
  • The outlook of the regulatory environment for insurers
  • Hot topics in reinsurance
