Geisinger chose Baker Tilly to perform a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) in an effort to gain a better understanding of health needs across the communities they serve. An integral component of the CHNA is community engagement. To encourage broad participation by community stakeholders, Baker Tilly worked with Geisinger, and its CHNA partners, Allied Services and Evangelical Community Hospital to coordinate and host free webinars to introduce the CHNA to the community. The webinars outlined the study timeline, research methodologies and highlighted opportunities for stakeholders to provide input via online surveys and community forums.
The goal of the CHNA is to gather data and stakeholder insights in identifying the issues that most impact their communities’ health while encouraging a collaborative foundation for ongoing community health improvement.
The FY2019 CHNA builds upon the FY2016 study and will continue to guide the health systems’ community benefit and community health improvement efforts. This important research initiative will entail a comprehensive mix of quantitative and qualitative data to depict community demographics and health trends, identify health disparities, determine existing community assets and direct ongoing community health initiatives.
The Baker Tilly CHNA Team brings the experience of conducting CHNAs in hundreds of communities across the country, as well as a diverse skillset in health research and strategic planning.
