What a dramatic end to a tumultuous 2020! This time last year, we were just dusting ourselves down from Boris Johnson’s landslide general election victory and the promise of “getting Brexit done” ringing in our ears! After a year of COVID-19, an oil price that went into negative territory, lockdowns that proved terminal for many retailers (and those in hospitality) and a controversial U.S. presidential election, rapid vaccine development provided hope for us all. A belated Brexit deal provided relief right at the very last moment for those on both sides of the Channel and global markets seemed to approve of some semblance of certainty. The Chinese economy continues to go from strength to strength but authorities ended the year in robust fashion causing ripples of fear among domestic powerhouse companies and nervous investors alike. And if that wasn’t enough, Bitcoin continued to smash through previous records against the dollar…
