Sky Island Capital acquires Kaufhold’s Kurds

Learn how Baker Tilly Capital worked with Kaufhold’s Kurds’ second-generation owners to find the right partner to carry on the family’s vision for the growth of the business.

Client need

Kaufhold’s Kurds is a wholesale manufacturer of hand-breaded Wisconsin cheese curds and is known as the “Home of the original hand breaded cheese curd.” The company primarily sells its products through food service distributors across the United States. Founded in 1995 by John and Scott Kaufhold, the company has experienced significant growth in recent years under the day-to-day management of John's daughter, Renee Drummond and her husband, Anthony. John and Scott stepped away from the day-to-day operations about 10 years ago and were ready to sell their ownership of the company, and Renee and Anthony were seeking a partner who could help them continue the company's growth and expansion while keeping it in Ellsworth, WI, where it has been located for over 25 years.

Baker Tilly Capital solution

Baker Tilly Capital ran a full sell-side process and worked with the second-generation owners, Renee and Anthony, to find the right partner to carry on the vision the Kaufhold family had for the growth of the business. Kaufhold’s Kurds, through Baker Tilly Capital, found the right buyer in Sky Island Capital.
