Baker Tilly Capital harnesses partner for English Riding Supply

Learn how Baker Tilly Capital worked with English Riding Supply to find the perfect match in a buyer who shares the company’s vision for growth.

Client need

English Riding Supply (ERS) is a wholesale importer and distributor of equestrian equipment and apparel. ERS serves as a one-stop shop to more than 800 online and brick-and-mortar tack shops and specialty retailers. Founded in 2002, ERS is headquartered in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and distributes over 14,000 products from premier equestrian brands throughout the United States. As the owners began to consider the next steps for the company, they decided to look for a new partner that was focused on upholding the company’s commitment to best-in-class customer service and innovative product offerings.

Baker Tilly Capital solution

To find the best fit for ERS, Baker Tilly Capital, LLC (Baker Tilly Capital) ran a full sale process by reaching out to strategic and private equity buyers.

Michael Diamond, CEO of ERS, said his company’s management knew what it was looking for in a partner: “It was important to the entire ERS team to identify a capital partner that understood our vision for the company, the value we deliver to our customers and the culture that has driven our success.”

ERS, through Baker Tilly Capital, found the right partner in NCK Capital, LLC (NCK), which is integrating ERS into its portfolio of specialty distribution companies. The recapitalization was financed in partnership with PNC Mezzanine Capital and First Commonwealth Bank.

Results

With this transaction, NCK is providing ERS and its employees with resources and opportunities to help them continue to grow the business.

“The team at Baker Tilly Capital was fantastic. They listened to what we needed and did a masterful job executing the transaction", John Logerfo, executive vice president of ERS, said. “They understood that we had to find the right financial partner to help ERS grow without losing our deep commitment to our clients and suppliers.”
