Baker Tilly Partner Wendi Unger Assumes Chair of Wisconsin Institute of CPAs’ Board of Directors

MILWAUKEE (May 26, 2020) – Leading advisory, tax and assurance firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) announces Wendi Unger, a partner in the firm’s state and local government practice, has assumed the role as board chair of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA) for the 2020-2021 term.

Unger has been an active member of the WICPA for 12 years and serves as chairperson of WICPA’s School District Audit Conference Committee. She previously served on the WICPA Educational Foundation board of directors as a member of the strategic planning task force and the scholarship selection committee. She has held WICPA board positions as a director and nomination committee member, and most recently as chair-elect.

During Unger’s time as chair, she is excited to work with the WICPA board and members to support and strengthen the CPA profession. “Given the decrease in student enrollment in college accounting programs, we need to identify creative ways to communicate to young people the many opportunities a career in accounting holds,” Unger said. “I look forward to connecting with my fellow WICPA members to hear ideas and implement solutions that will advance our profession.”

Unger provides accounting, financial auditing and consulting services to municipalities, utilities, school districts and higher education institutions. She also serves as council member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and as a board member and finance committee member for the Wisconsin Policy Forum.
