Baker Tilly Enters Boston with Acquisition of The MFA Companies

Expansion positions Baker Tilly’s life sciences practice in 10 of the top 13 life sciences clusters in the U.S.

BOSTON (Nov. 4, 2021) – Leading advisory CPA firm Baker Tilly US, LLP (Baker Tilly) announces its intent to acquire Boston-based accounting and advisory firm The MFA Companies (MFA). The combination will be effective Dec. 2, 2021.

MFA has been serving clients in the Boston metro area for 40 years. With expanded coverage along the northeast I-95 corridor, from Washington, D.C., to Boston, this combination turbo-charges the firms’ ability to scale and serve clients, notably in healthcare, technology, higher education, private equity and government contractors.

Thirteen markets are fueling the bulk of growth in the U.S. life sciences industry. Baker Tilly’s robust life sciences practice has a strong presence in 10 of those 13, with Boston-Cambridge as the No. 1 life sciences cluster in the country.

“Boston is a hub for business and technology and is a strategic market for Baker Tilly. MFA is a progressive firm whose talented team members challenge the status quo to innovate and design meaningful solutions in this market and beyond.”
Baker Tilly CEO Alan Whitman
