Trenton Kleist is a partner within Baker Tilly’s real estate service practice. Trent works primarily with affordable housing real estate owners, operators, developers and construction contractors. He has extensive experience in audit, attest and consulting engagements focused in the real estate and construction industries.
- Partner in charge for financial statement audit and agreed upon procedure engagements for affordable housing projects and projects utilizing Historic Tax Credits, including evaluating and documenting internal controls, working with various state and federal agencies and equity investors
- Partner in charge of audits, reviews and compilations of construction contractors and real estate development clients
- Firmwide concurring reviewer of affordable housing, HUD and cost certification audit engagements
- Specializes in auditing according with HUD Audit Guide and single audits in accordance with Uniform Guidance
- Manages federal and state construction cost certifications and 10% test engagements for Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and Historic Tax Credit entities in multiple states
- Experienced in all aspects of tax preparation for corporations, partnerships and individuals
- Assists clients with bookkeeping services
- Develops and presents continuing professional education (CPE) for LIHTC cost certifications and 10% test projects
- Prepares compiled forecasts and projections
- Leads process improvement and template updates for cost certification and 10% test engagements
