
Richard Thompson is an audit principal who has been with Baker Tilly since 2009. He has completed, led and managed financial statement audits, reviews, compilations and agreed-upon procedures, including consulting clients in matters pertaining to U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), key business processes and strategies to improve the design and effectiveness of internal controls. He supports multiple industries, with a primary focus in the real estate and commercial sectors.
- Manages and leads assurance projects in a variety of industries including real estate, contracting, technology/software and other commercial and emerging markets industries
- Client base consists of both large and small, multiple location (including international subsidiaries), consolidated and privately owned companies
- Consults with clients on various U.S. GAAP technical accounting issues, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, variable interest considerations, complex equity instruments, significant estimates and business combinations, among others
- Local Assurance Leader for the Washington DC Business Unit and Member of Baker Tilly’s Industry Centers of Excellence – Technical Committee (ICE-T) which includes the following responsibilities: monitoring and responding to industry-specific standards and trends; developing tools and templates for industry and incorporating firm guidance; developing and delivering industry and technical training; and performing quality control review of engagements
