Mumta Taneja

Mumta is a director with Baker Tilly's risk advisory practice. She has more than 18 years of experience providing internal audit and internal control compliance services. Her current clients are primarily in the manufacturing, higher education, cannabis, and food and beverage industries. Prior to joining Baker Tilly, Mumta worked at a Big Four firm, where she provided internal audit, risk advisory and contract compliance services.

  • Serves as the engagement director for large SOX and co-sourced/out-sourced internal audit clients
  • Leads internal controls and SOX compliance engagements, including SOX readiness, first-year filers engagements and SOX 404 compliance. Responsibilities include identifying and evaluating control design, documenting controls, testing control effectiveness, communicating with senior management, recommending improvements and reporting to audit committees
  • Leads internal audit engagements for a variety of clients, including enterprise risk assessments, planning and execution of the internal audit plan
  • Uses data analytic software to execute internal audit procedures and/or fraud detection analytics
  • Leads the firm’s SOX Community of Practice and delivers various trainings within the firm
  • Leads the Chicago office supporting opportunity, advancement and recognition (SOAR) Committee (diversity, equity and inclusion)
  • Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), serves as the IIA Annual Seminar Chicago marketing chairperson, 2017-present
  • IIA New Member Volunteer Award, 2017
  • Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE)
  • Delivers presentations related to risk and internal audit topics such as: SOX/internal controls, data analytics, enterprise risk management, FCPA
  • Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA)
