Michael Feld is a director with Baker Tilly’s transaction advisory services practice. He specializes in the new markets tax credit (NMTC) consulting and support practice and has been involved in the NTMC program since 2006. Mike has diverse work experience and is an accredited senior appraiser with a specialty in business valuation from the American Society of Appraisers. He formerly specialized in the valuation of closely held businesses and pass-through entities for gift and estate tax, S corporation election, merger and acquisition, and dispute resolution purposes. He has performed real estate and economic valuation damage analysis and developed complex customized real estate spreadsheet applications. In addition, he has prior experience as a commercial real estate appraiser.
- Underwrites and structures complex business and real estate NMTC financing packages for a variety of Community Development Entities (CDE) clients working with borrowers, investors, leverage lenders and public agencies to design optimal capital structures
- Leads Baker Tilly’s NMTC financial modeling practice and has modeled and closed a wide variety of business and real estate NMTC deals including multi-CDE and twinned NMTC and historic tax credit structures
- Interfaces with Baker Tilly’s loan servicing and compliance personnel assuring a smooth transition between the NMTC closing process and ongoing servicing
- Analyzes and prepares comprehensive NMTC financing packages on behalf of project sponsors to secure and close NMTC financing
- Develops specialized spreadsheet models for CDE management, real estate and business valuation purposes
- Provides financial analysis and due diligence regarding sales and acquisitions of closely held businesses and real estate equity offerings
- Accredited Senior Appraiser, American Society of Appraisers (ASA)
