
Lisa Phifer is managing director of Baker Tilly’s Washington, D.C. real estate and construction practice. She provides assurance and business advisory services to private equity real estate investment funds, real estate developers and real estate investment trusts (REITs).
- Plans, supervises and manages financial statement audits for commercial and residential real estate, real estate opportunity funds, real estate developers and property managers
- Provides consultation on various accounting standards, including revenue recognition, leases, impairments, fair value and business combinations/asset acquisitions
- Designs internal control and financial reporting systems
- Assists management in understanding various risks and inefficiencies in their current controls, as well as how to mitigate risk and become more efficient and effective
- Serves a variety of clients, including large private equity investors, as well as small family-owned businesses
- Assists in the firm’s quality control function, providing consultation and guidance to engagement teams regarding the appropriate accounting and auditing considerations, performs engagement quality reviews and delivers continuing professional education courses
