Client background

​This client is a payments technology company with over 20 years in the industry, managing customer, employee and corporate payouts and disbursements. The technology platform offers digital payout means to virtual cards, prepaid cards, deposit accounts and mobile wallets.    

The business challenge

The client announced at the end of June 2020 that it was seeking acquisition. Baker Tilly’s commercial audit team was asked to complete an audit of financial payments data to support the scale. Due to a massive amount of client data and short delivery timelines, the client needed to accelerate the audit process.

Strategy and solution

Baker Tilly Digital worked iteratively with the client to gather system documentation and analyze client data, utilizing the agile mythology to deliver quick results. 

 Baker Tilly Digital was responsible for: 

• Evaluating the client’s data flow infrastructure, including a detailed assessment of SSIS packages and stored procedures, to garner a comprehensive picture of how data moves through WNA’s environment 
• Performing a robust transaction data analysis, migrating target data to the Azure environment 
• Executing a transaction reconciliation analysis to validate that the data had not been altered or manipulated in the general ledger 
• Creating mechanisms to generate random detail sampling and find exceptions in the transaction fee schedule 

The client was able to successfully save time and money scaling their audit process across all transaction data and reduced efforts on an expedited timeline.
