Linda Hogarth is a director with Baker Tilly’s forensic, litigation and valuation services practice. For more than 28 years Linda has focused her work exclusively on forensic accounting, specializing in the investigation, review and measurement of damages and litigation support for both the legal and insurance industries.

Linda’s expertise and love of creative problem solving has taken her across the United States to work on a variety of cases involving fraud and fidelity, business income and extra expense, financial motive investigations and employee dishonesty.

Linda enjoys bringing the pieces together in a financial investigation to reveal the complete picture of the loss. She helps her clients, and in turn their clients, to understand the method behind the calculations.

  • Reviewed a fraud and fidelity claim in which employees stole merchandise from a manufacturing company. The employees were disciplined, but no record was made of what was taken at the time of the theft. At the end of the year, the discrepancy was found when the CFO had to reconcile the inventory. A final measurement of the loss could not be provided due to the delayed reporting of the theft and additional errors in inventory counting
  • Engaged to quantify the loss of a one location of a successful franchise restaurant in Oklahoma was severely damaged by fire, resulting in a four-month closure and subsequent business interruption claim. Worked with the insured to gather the necessary documentation and monitoring progress on repairs
  • Investigated the financial condition motive of large custom home that was destroyed by a fire just before the home was to be put on the market for sale. Timing of the fire and financial circumstances of the owner raised the suspicion of arson. The case settled out of court and charges of arson were never filed
  • Tracing expenditures in an employee fraud case. The employee charged personal expenses on the company credit card, and then posted pictures of the purchases on a personal Facebook page. The firm was able to quantify the loss and trace the fraudulent purchases made
