CHICAGO (March 10, 2015) – Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) is pleased to announce that Susannah Baney, a member of Baker Tilly’s state and local government practice, has been selected to the Government Accounting Standards Board’s (GASB) Practice Fellow Program.
“We are very proud that one of our team members was honored with this recognition. Throughout this experience, Susannah will have the opportunity to grow professionally and enhance financial reporting standards, providing value to the industry as a whole,” said Vicki Hellenbrand, practice leader of Baker Tilly’s state and local government team.
The GASB’s Practice Fellow Program is a unique opportunity for manager, senior manager, or director level public accountants to participate in the standard-setting process as a project manager focused on implementation and emerging issues. Practice fellows commit to the respected two-year program with the GASB before returning to their sponsoring organizations.
Participating in the GASB Practice Fellow Program allows those selectively chosen to play a vital role in making recommendations on technical issues and drafting standards that govern the accounting industry.
Candidates nominated for the GASB’s Practice Fellow Program should have extensive experience and familiarity with governmental accounting and financial reporting. Practice fellows benefit from valuable technical experience gained during their time at GASB to deliver their firms and clients valuable insights into the standard setting process.
