Healthcare added 32,100 jobs in November, outpacing all other sectors

A recent report released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics announced healthcare led all other sectors in November hiring, adding 32,100 new jobs over the course of the month. It was followed closely by the professional and business services sector, which added 32,000 jobs.

Other key findings from the report include:

  • Within healthcare, the ambulatory sector accounted for 60 percent of the total jobs created, adding 19,200 new jobs and surpassing its October rate of job creation by 35 percent
  • Hospitals added 12,700 jobs, down just two percent from their October rate
  • The overall U.S. unemployment rate remained at 3.7 percent

Outpatient care centers and physician offices increased their hiring rate from October by 61 percent and 49 percent, respectively. Hiring within dentists’ offices (300 new jobs in November) and nursing and residential care facilities (200 new jobs in November) decreased significantly from October rates.
