Baker Tilly session: Current trends in utility financing

Tuesday, July 27, 2021
3:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. ET

Utility infrastructure represents a substantial portion of the value of our public investment in water and sewer utilities.  But how do utilities fund improvement projects in the middle of a worldwide public health crisis? How can utilities refund their outstanding debt through the Ohio Water Development Authority’s (OWDA) new program, or on the open market, to reduce outstanding long-term debt payments to ultimately reduce the costs and pressure on utility rates?

In this session, our municipal utilities finance specialists will present current trends, challenges and opportunities in water utility financing and answer questions that arise from the discussion. We will discuss new developments related to the major utility project funding sources, including OWDA’s existing and new programs, along with bonds sold on the open market.

Presented by:

  • Doug Baldessari, CPA, Partner, Baker Tilly Municipal Advisors
  • Mark Miller, Director, Baker Tilly Municipal Advisors
  • Ken Heigel, P.E., Executive Director, Ohio Water Development Authority
