David is a managing director in Baker Tilly’s energy practice. He has more than 30 years of experience in corporate and customer strategy matters, with expertise in growth, innovation, strategic planning, IT strategy, retail energy supply, risk management and governance and implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. David’s former roles include positions with international consulting firms and national energy companies. David is currently focused on assisting clients in the development of strategy and execution plans for the energy transition and the evolving new energy ecosystem, including sustainability, utility, smart city and retail energy markets. Additionally, David is working with clients to develop platforms and applications that take advantage of coming SmartGrid and electrification deployments, especially in the area of advanced data analytics. David also works closely with the Autonomous Vehicle Association to speed the development of mobility equity with a safe, secure and reliable model.

David was former chair of the Connected Home Research Council (CHRC). The CHRC was a cross industry collaborative research group that focused on identifying integration lifestyle solutions for the emerging smart home market. During his tenure as chair, CHRC produced several groundbreaking research studies on the integration of energy efficiency and demand response into traditional consumer lifestyle choices.

  • Managed projects on developing all aspects of a “smart community” model for a quasi-governmental energy and resources agency that manages transmission and distribution of power, water and environmental issues across seven states that includes multiple cities and municipal jurisdictions
  • Directed a project to support a large Texas city and its municipal utilities and transportation agency in developing a smart city roadmap that included constructing a data sharing agreement between the various stakeholders and identifying and prioritizing initial pilot projects for execution
  • Formerly led multidisciplinary and cross functional teams to deliver complex enterprise systems for the retail energy and utility industries including customer management, billing, AMI interfaces, load forecasting, full requirements energy pricing and energy supply
