Baker Tilly’s Barbara Schaefer McDuffie Named Women Who Mean Business Award Recipient

TYSONS CORNER, Va. – Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) is pleased to announce Barbara Schaefer McDuffie, managing director of business development for the firm’s DC office, was recently named by the Washington Business Journal as one of the Women Who Mean Business award winners. The 2013 award class recognizes twenty-five of the DC metropolitan area’s most influential female leaders, including leading business owners, executives, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists. McDuffie was selected for her impressive contributions to the commercial real estate community, leadership roles in more than twelve professional and non-profit organizations, extensive list of awards and accolades, and commitment to mentoring young professionals.

McDuffie joined Baker Tilly in 2007 after serving the commercial real estate industry for more than twenty years. In her role with Baker Tilly, McDuffie’s network has proved an asset to the firm’s continued growth. Her involvement has increased revenues and brand awareness.

McDuffie is well known for creating opportunities for Baker Tilly staff to become involved in industry and philanthropic activities. In addition to developing new business for the firm, she has engaged in internal training of staff accountants, planned and organized CFO roundtable events, spearheaded the annual Baker Tilly client appreciation golf outing and numerous other firm related events.

McDuffie and the other honorees were recognized at an awards reception on November 14, 2013, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, DC.
