Client background

This client collaborates with various organizations to create, test, deliver and scale the next generation of energy efficient and renewable programs to inspire new solutions to big energy challenges.

The business challenge

The client had multiple lines of business, with a key driver being the measurement of efficiency savings based on programs they were offering and implementing. However, they did not have a central repository for this type of information and the business organized itself into silos, using various methods to calculate energy savings and a variety of tools to calculate key metrics. The client knew they had many data assets within the organization, but no overreaching strategy to centralize them. They engaged Baker Tilly Digital to understand the overall business priorities and create a data warehouse strategy.

Strategy and solution

Baker Tilly Digital performed a data analytics program assessment to evaluate the current data infrastructure, team capabilities and overall business priorities. This assessment included:

  • Interviewing key directors across the organization and working directly with the CIO to develop recommendations for the senior leadership team
  • Identifying a consistent way of measuring these values and different program areas using a variety of systems to capture them

The client saved substantial funds by focusing resources on implementing standard systems across various programs to capture energy savings information accurately and consistently.
