Clothing producer engages Baker Tilly Digital to migrate to new ERP system

Clothing producer engages Baker Tilly Digital to migrate their existing ERP data into a centralized reporting environment in their new ERP system.

Client background

This company is a growing clothing producer as well as a retailer. They make tough, functional and comfortable clothing for men and women. They have grown to prominence with a unique marketing style and high-quality clothing.

The business challenge

The client was in the process of migrating from a 14+ year old order processing system to Microsoft ERP system. In this process, they had engaged several vendors to perform development and QA activities, but given the overall size of the project, the client had difficulty managing efforts across teams. They needed help managing support activities related to the go-live of their new Microsoft ERP system

Also, given time restraints, the client needed to migrate their existing ERP data into a centralized reporting environment that could be combined with information from their new ERP system.

Strategy and solution

Baker Tilly Digital setup an Agile development process that included key members of the client’s team, along with a separate group responsible for extracting Microsoft information into a central staging environment to:

  • Create a complete set of mappings from Microsoft to existing reporting tables
  • Develop all extract, transform, load (ETL) to move data from the staging environments and merge into existing tables

We also provided a senior consultant with both a strong technical and functional background to help drive support related activities and coordinate between multiple vendors to:

  • Build relationships between various global teams
  • Work directly with the CIO and management team to help assess and prioritize related go-live activities

At the end of the engagement, the client was able to move into the Microsoft platform while sill supporting existing reporting. Baker Tilly Digital set up strategic priorities related to go-live activities as well as ensure that the planned go-live targets were met. Due to this success, the client continues to collaborate with Baker Tilly Digital on a variety of projects.
