Bill raises concerns about broader sales tax base

The Omnibus Tax Bill enacted by the Minnesota Legislature during the 2013 session contained some significant changes to Minnesota’s tax base and sales tax laws. The following changes have created the most conversation among Minnesota taxpayers, even calling for a special session to have the sections of the bills containing the changes reversed:

  • Repair and maintenance services for electronic and precision equipment
  • Repair and maintenance for commercial and industrial equipment and machinery
  • Warehousing or storage services for tangible personal property
