Baker Tilly Professionals to Share Key Insights at Upcoming Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Fraud Seminar

VIENNA, VA -- Senior professionals from accounting and advisory firm Baker Tilly will share insights on current fraud trends and key fraud-related issues at the upcoming Fraud Seminar hosted by the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).

The seminar will take place on April 19 - 20, 2011, in Arlington, VA, with Baker Tilly professionals covering the following topics through interactive discussion sessions:

  • Conducting a Fraud Risk Assessment -- John Kiss and Matt Walters will discuss how an organization can effectively use a fraud risk assessment to determine exposure to internal and external fraud risks.
  • Taking the Fear Out of Finding Information Technology (IT) Fraud -- Mike Cullen and Jennifer Woo will educate attendees on how to identify different types of IT fraud risks and evaluate controls for managing those risks.
  • Common Fraud Schemes in Construction -- Phil Ng and Matt Dankner will present common fraud schemes related to construction contracts, as well as audit objectives and procedures to address risks in construction activities.
  • International Fraud Detection and Prevention -- Monica Modi Dalwadi and Allison Komara will present a history of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), share current enforcement trends, and identify key audit areas.
  • Government Contracting Fraud -- Kim Ginn and David Clark will help attendees identify risks of fraud associated with government contracting activities, understand steps to mitigate the risks, and review sample case studies; and
  • Responding Rapidly to Hotline Calls -- Ashley Deihr and Tierney Parker will share best practices and tips for managing an anonymous whistleblower hotline, organizing a response to a hotline call, and assessing and responding to hotline calls in a responsive and efficient manner.
