Baker Tilly Government Contracting Group to Again Team with Professional Services Council at Upcoming Deltek Insight 2010 Conference

For Immediate Release: May 5, 2010

TYSONS CORNER, VA – Senior leaders in the Government Contracting Advisory Services (GCAS) practice at Baker Tilly will present on topics facing the government contracting industry at the Deltek Insight 2010 Conference being held from May 17-20 at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center outside of Washington, D.C.

Baker Tilly partner Peter Lauria will join Alan Chvotkin, Executive Vice President and Counsel of the Professional Services Council, to provide their annual update on federal government contracting and industry trends that will help attendees understand the current contracting environment, the new and pending legislation and the steps firms can take to address contracting risks in this era of heightened transparency, accountability and oversight.

“It’s clear that contractors today are under heightened scrutiny related to contract compliance," Lauria said. “This environment requires that contractors fully understand the changing and dynamic regulatory landscape facing the industry."

“There continues to be significant attention and federal action over a wide range of federal contracting issues – that will appropriately increase with the spending of the stimulus funds," added Chvotkin. “With new policy proposals and regulations popping up continuously, it is essential that contractors keep informed about the latest developments and act to address them."

Lauria and Chvotkin will be joined by Tony Fuller, Baker Tilly’s GCAS practice leader, as well as Baker Tilly directors Bill Bressette and Traci Rowland and others in the presentation of six break-out sessions during the conference. Fuller will present on General Services Administration (GSA) challenges, trends and best practices. Attendees will gain an understanding of the current GSA audit environment and discuss often-misunderstood contract compliance obligations.

“Our GSA session will provide attendees with practical, value added insights to minimize risk associated with the most common compliance and audit challenges," said Fuller. “We will also address recent GSA Schedule contracting trends, including the substantive recommendations for change included in Multiple Award Schedule Advisory Panel’s final report."

Fuller and Lauria joined Baker Tilly, an accounting and advisory firm with more than 1,400 people across 11 offices, in December 2009 when it merged with their previous firm, Beers + Cutler. Baker Tilly is a platinum sponsor of Insight 2010.
