Tom Miller

Tom Miller, director in the consulting practice of Baker Tilly, has been with the firm since 2005. Tom has more than 20 years of consulting experience specializing in packaged software and strategic transformation initiatives. He has worked with a variety of clients in the automotive, industrial manufacturing and distribution industries, and has broad experience planning, executing and managing large-scale strategic projects. His experiences span the entire program lifecycle including project planning, requirements gathering, process design, configuration, custom development, integration, technology enablement, testing, training, cutover and support. He has also helped several clients optimize their existing systems through implementation of additional functionality and re-design of business processes.

  • Program manager for a business transformation initiative at a manufacturing joint venture with 7,000 employees and 24 locations globally. Led the design and implementation of a global common model for order management, planning/scheduling, procurement, inventory management, production and shipping processes. Defined and led the approach for each major segment of project delivery, including requirements definition, process design, system configuration, data conversion, testing, training and global solution rollout.
  • Program manager for a systems implementation at a global metal forging products supplier. Managed the overall program, including coordinating resources and activities during multiple, concurrent roll-outs. Led the roll-out of a common model design to the business unit’s seven locations, including design and implementation of new supply chain and shop floor processes.
  • Program manager for a systems implementation at a global supplier of metal stampings and assemblies. Led development and deployment of a common model across the company, including leading design, configuration and testing of planning, scheduling, inventory management, production and equipment maintenance processes. Oversaw implementation at the company’s ten facilities, including managing site implementation teams supporting multiple, concurrent rollouts.
  • Project manager for a systems implementation at a metal fabricator for the industrial and commercial markets. Managed the overall project plan and resources for the roll-out of the system across the company’s three locations and served as the functional lead for all manufacturing and supply chain processes and functionality.
  • Project manager for a systems implementation at a regional distributor of pipe and plumbing products. Led the team in design, configuration, testing and implementation of a common business model across twenty branch locations. Helped lead the design and implementation of new warehouse and inventory management processes. Managed overall project plan, budget, resources and scope – including third party interfaces and enhancements.
  • Project manager for numerous packaged software evaluation projects for manufacturing clients spanning engineer-to-order, configure-to-order and make-to-stock environments. Evaluated a range of software packages and options including on-premises, cloud, multi-tier and best of breed.
  • Led multiple system optimization projects; re-engineered processes and system configurations and implemented additional modules and functionality.
