Mike is Baker Tilly's dealership industry practice leader. He specializes in retail automobile, truck, implement and equipment, boat, motorcycle, recreational dealerships and related industries. Before joining Baker Tilly, he spent eight years working in the dealership industry with both single-point and mega-dealer operations. He has extensive consulting experience in dealership operations, internal control, accounting processes and computer utilization, as well as tax and consulting services for businesses, shareholders and owners.
- Provides reviews and compilations of dealerships including full disclosures
- Provides dealer-specific tax experience including LIFO, UNICAP, sales tax, and cash reporting requirements and procedures
- Provides dealership internal control reviews
- Specializes in corporate, partnership, individual, and S-corporation taxation
- Assists with acquisitions and due diligence
- Analyzes dealer financial statements and benchmark comparisons
- Assists with developing and reviewing pay plans at all levels in the dealership
- Develops and advises on buy here/pay here and finance company operations
- Analyzes the performance of re-insurance programs
- Significant experience using Reynolds and Reynolds, ADP, UCS, and Autosoft including but not limited to data extraction, general ledger construction and maintenance, forms programming, financial statement mapping, daily operating control preparation, and report generator
- Consults and performs data extraction on multiple DMS systems for customized internal analysis and reports
- Performs customized fraud investigations through the utilization of various dealer management systems

- Attends various dealer-related conferences including the AICPA National Auto Dealership Conference and the National Auto Dealer Association (NADA) Convention
