Matthew Chenowth

Matthew Chenowth is a director in Baker Tilly’s unclaimed property practice. He has extensive experience in unclaimed property consulting, specializing in the development and implementation of planning opportunities, as well as the performance of comprehensive diagnostic reviews and audit defense. Since 1999, Matthew has worked in public accounting. Before entering public accounting, Matthew also spent three years in the tax department at a large entertainment company where he assisted on numerous mergers and acquisitions allowing him to gain experience in the technical issues surrounding corporate restructurings.

  • More than 23 years of experience in unclaimed property, and state and local tax including both industry practice and public accounting consulting.
  • Extensive experience in the design and implementation of unclaimed property planning opportunities, including working with retailers in all industry segments to develop solutions tailored to their specific industry needs and fact patterns. In addition, Matthew also has experience in unclaimed property consulting for the healthcare, manufacturing and entertainment industries
  • Represented Fortune 500 clients in the defense of unclaimed property audits, in the performance of comprehensive diagnostic reviews and the development and implementation of planning opportunities
