Jim is an audit partner in the energy and utilities and higher education practice groups. His experience includes working with publicly traded and middle market companies and is focused on serving energy and public utility companies as well as college preparatory and higher educational institutions. Jim has frequently presented on energy and utilities industry topics at the American Gas Association (AGA)/Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Accounting Leadership Conference, AGA Accounting Principles Committee groups, and other utility industry conferences.
- Partner-in charge of a number of the firm’s publicly traded public utility integrated financial audits
- Partner-in charge of other non-regulated power, gas, propane, and other energy company financial audits including IPPs, hydro-electric, cooperatives, marketers/trading, and wholesale companies
- Well versed in Sarbanes-Oxley sections 404(a) and (b) attest and reporting requirements as well as the COSO framework
- Experience with accounting and reporting requirements of the SEC including IPOs, secondary offerings, carve-outs, and spin-offs
- Buy-side due-diligence
- Government grant compliance attest engagements for the Department of Energy and section 1603 Department of Treasury Grants in lieu of investment tax credits
- Partner-in charge of numerous college, university, and college preparatory school financial audits
- Partner-in-charge of single audits in accordance with OMB Circular A-133
