Jake Kutz, partner with the energy and utilities team, has been the firm since 2003. Jake has extensive experience providing accounting and audit services primarily to utilities and energy related companies. He is experienced with regulatory accounting issues, as well as internal control over financial reporting as it relates to companies in this industry. Jake is well versed in all aspects of SEC reporting and filings under the 1933 and 1934 Acts, SEC comment letters, communications with the SEC, public and private offerings, and the rules and regulations of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. Jake also provides audit services to manufacturing, distribution and technology companies, as well as employee benefit plans in a variety of industries.

  • Partner-in-charge of financial statement-only and integrated audits of energy and utilities companies
  • Presents relevant information to audit committees and boards of clients
  • Provides guidance on accounting policies and procedures to improve the operation of the accounting function and strengthen internal controls
  • Interacts with the firm’s professional practice team to ensure the industry practice group is current with accounting, auditing, and reporting matters, including SEC matters
  • Participated in a field project of the Financial Accounting Foundation to evaluate proposed changes to financial statement presentation as it relates to regulated utilities
  • Proven leader in developing and presenting the firm’s learning and development courses for the energy and utilities practice group
  • Participated in a task force established by the Center for Audit Quality to submit comments on the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) of the Internal Control – Integrated Framework – 2013 Framework
  • Licensed CPA in Pennsylvania
