Gabriel joined Baker Tilly in 1999.He currently serves as the tax partner-in-charge for the West region, and is a member of the Tax Leadership Team and Board of Partners. Throughout his career, Gabriel has delivered tax consulting and compliance services for clients across industries.
- Primarily serves multi-family, residential, retail and commercial real estate developers and owners
- Other industries served include entertainment, hospitality, service providers, and federal equity receiverships
- Works with real estate clients throughout the life cycle of a project, including advising on structuring entities and acquisitions, maximizing profitability during operations and minimizing tax on disposition
- Helps restructuring clients achieve permanent tax savings through long-term capital gain treatment
- Advises clients as to optimal structure in multiple foreign pension fund (both Governmental and Corporate) investments in the U.S.
- Provides creative transaction structuring including techniques for tax deferral and minimization, recapitalizations, and identification of optimal tax accounting methods and periods as they relate to revenue and expense recognition
- Expertise in tax compliance for syndicated partnerships, closely held businesses, and high-net-worth individuals
- Experience with federal equity receiverships includes advising on receivership entities, accounting for recoveries and distributions, and Qualified Settlement Fund Federal and State compliance
