Corey is a director in the firm’s risk advisory practice. Corey has been with the firm since 2011 and has 15 years of experience in the areas of internal audit, compliance, enterprise risk management, fraud investigation and grants and contracts consulting.

Prior to joining the firm, Corey had more than two years of internal audit experience at an international organization where he assisted in the development and execution of audit procedures for several large, national mortgage servicers. He also developed test plans, led process walkthroughs and tested key controls as part of the organization’s evaluation of internal controls over financial reporting under SOX.

  • Leads internal audit and consulting engagements in numerous industries, including government contracting, higher education and not-for-profit organizations
  • Collaborates seamlessly with senior management, the board of directors and audit committees to provide outsourced and co-sourced internal audit and compliance services
  • Conducts enterprise wide risk assessments to assist organizations in the development and alignment of risk based internal audit plans
  • Coordinates with senior leadership to facilitate the design and implementation of enterprise risk management programs for organizations to identify, assess and manage potential risks within a repeatable and sustainable framework
  • Conducted organization wide internal control assessments, operational reviews and compliance audits, including identifying weaknesses in an organization’s internal controls and recommending methods to mitigate risks and enhance organizational controls
  • Developed process documentation, including flow charts, narratives and risk and control matrices to help identify process improvement opportunities and build-out an internal control environment
  • Provided interim leadership support for clients, acting as an organization’s director of internal audit and chief compliance officer
  • Performed audits of an organization’s costs incurred within the following areas: travel and expense, corporate/procurement cards, purchase orders and subcontracts, payroll and other miscellaneous expenditures
  • Assisted with a conflicts of interest audit and helped to align clients’ policy and practices with those of organizations of similar quality and reputation

  • Co-facilitated quarterly roundtable discussions with Chief Audit Executives from the government contracting industry on topics such as agile internal audit, enterprise risk management and leveraging data analytics in internal auditing (2021-2022)
  • Presented on “One Breath of Scandal: Ensuring Integrity in Sports Officiating” and “Key Lessons for Corporate Compliance Programs” with a panel of speakers at the SCCE’s Sports, Compliance, and Ethics Conference (January 2023)
