Baker Tilly Welcomes Senior Advisor Norman Freidkin
Industry veteran with strong local ties joins national accounting and advisory firm

March 30, 2011

VIENNA, VA – Norman Freidkin, an accountant and business advisor in the DC area for over 40 years, recently joined Baker Tilly as a senior advisor based in the firm’s Washington regional headquarters.

Freidkin founded the Rockville, Maryland accounting firm Freidkin, Matrone & Horn in 1974, and practiced there for more than 30 years. Through the years he has specialized in assisting clients in the tax and economic structure of various commercial, industrial, retail, and real estate enterprises.

“Norman’s experience as a strategic tax and business advisor to many mid-sized and large businesses, and high-net-worth individuals, makes him a great addition to Baker Tilly," Regional Managing Partner Ed Offterdinger said.

Matt Hallam, Managing Partner of Tax & Assurance for the DC office, added: “Norman’s experience working with many local real estate businesses aligns extremely well with Baker Tilly’s significant concentration of real estate clients."

In addition to working with existing Baker Tilly clients, Freidkin will also utilize his deep relationships in the local business community to identify new business opportunities for the firm.

“Helping clients develop and implement tax strategies is something I’ve enjoyed doing throughout my career, and I look forward to lending my expertise to Baker Tilly clients both here in DC and across the country," Freidkin said. “Over the years Baker Tilly has been such an outstanding corporate citizen, giving back to the community in so many ways. The firm’s generosity and commitment to our community played a big role in me coming on board."

Throughout his career, Freidkin has served in leadership roles on numerous business, civic, and nonprofit boards across the region, including the College Savings Plans of Maryland, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and the Jewish Foundation for Group Homes. He graduated from the University of Baltimore and received an executive MBA from Loyola College.
