Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP names Mitch Johnson Managing Director of Transaction Services Group January 18, 2011 MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly Virchow Krause), is pleased to announce that Mitch Johnson, JD, CPA, has joined the firm as Managing Director in its Transaction Services Group with a special emphasis on tax services. Mr. Johnson was most recently Vice President—Tax and Insurance for Select Comfort Corporation, where he also led the treasury and equity compensation functions during a portion of his tenure. In addition, he served as Director of Tax and Insurance for a large direct marketing public company, and he has 12 years prior experience with a national public accounting firm, where he served public and private companies, entrepreneurs and high-net-worth families. In his role at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, Mr. Johnson advises public and private companies in the retailing, manufacturing, distribution, financial services and consumer product industries. His areas of specialization include tax planning, structuring, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, divestitures of non-strategic assets, bankruptcy, troubled-company debt restructuring, and financial accounting for income taxes. He provides comprehensive finance and tax advice in areas such as SEC compliance, acquisition due diligence, initial public offerings, secondary offerings, and other equity and debt financings. A graduate of the University of Minnesota—Duluth and the University of Minnesota Law School, Mr. Johnson is a member of the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota State Bar Association.
