Baker Tilly Expands Its Federal Government Consulting Practice September 28, 2010 TYSTONS CORNER, VA - Accounting and advisory firm Baker Tilly has expanded its federal government practice group with the recent appointment of industry veteran Jeffrey H. Smith as a Principal. With over 25 years of experience, Smith joins Baker Tilly from IBM Global Business Services (GBS). At IBM, he managed a portfolio of GBS consulting engagements for federal financial and land management agencies and related clients in other executive Cabinet departments. At Baker Tilly, Smith will focus on the expansion of the firm’s federal practice group, which enables federal government agencies to develop and execute management and technology strategies, realize business process improvements, and effectively manage risk. Baker Tilly currently focuses on assisting clients by measuring and enhancing organizational performance, conducting independent program assessments, analyzing costs, and minimizing budgetary spend. The firm’s professionals include certified public accountants, project management professionals, certified internal auditors, certified fraud examiners, and both IT and financial strategists. “Jeff is a key addition to our growing federal practice group," said Ed Offterdinger, Managing Partner of Baker Tilly’s East Region. “His experience and proven leadership skills will allow us to continue to expand and adapt our capabilities to further meet the needs of our federal clients."
