Tax Services   Why choose Baker Tilly for your cost segregation?

Our cost segregation group is very well qualified to complete nearly any type of cost segregation project.

We have education, training, and experience in engineering, construction, architecture, accounting, tax, real estate, appraisal, development, and legal issues. Our group is dedicated fulltime to performing cost segregation studies on all types of properties. We are not hobbyists, and we do not out source work to others. The entire project is completed in house by Baker Tilly cost segregation professionals. Our group has the deep technical expertise to complete the project and defend it in front of the IRS if necessary.

The individuals that manage and complete the cost segregation studies are highly experienced and provide a high level of personal service. We also do not rely on sales people or business developers. The client will be dealing with the experienced individuals that are completing the project.

We work in conjunction with our internal tax and accounting colleagues for the taxpayer’s specific industry. As part of Baker Tilly’s Tax Services Practice, we serve clients throughout nearly all industry groups across the firm. We also have former IRS employees within our firm that we utilize to help defend audits of cost segregation studies and research certain tax and accounting regulations when applicable. These individuals are dedicated to helping us and other colleagues within the firm in regards to complex tax matters.

The group is sized such that we can effectively manage large, complex multi-property engagements under tight timelines. However, we also are able to complete relatively smaller single property engagements, as well as projects ranging anywhere in between.

As part of the engagement, we will discuss with you the various risks of the items within the cost segregation study. Our philosophy is to manage expectations such that if and when the study gets audited, there are no surprises for the client.
